Why Fencing?
Fencing is one of the oldest Olympic sports which grew out of the European tradition of swordsmanship. It is perhaps the only true Western martial arts form. It is elegant and dynamic, as demonstrated in this video tribute .

Here are some of the benefits of practicing fencing for both kids and adults alike:

  • Increases health, wellness and fitness by keeping kids physically active!
  • Teaches balance, coordination, agility and quicker reflexes!
  • Promotes discipline and good sportsmanship!
  • Develops mental skills since in fencing kids have to solve the problems presented by their opponents to score points. They learn action/reaction, basic strategy as well as acquire an ability to make lighting fast analyses of tactical situations.
  • Provides a fun and safe activity for kids during after school hours!
  • Engages youth in positive, potentially life-long recreational pursuits!
